Screensaver Preference Hanging: Unable to do anything

Hoping someone can help.

Have just upgraded my macbook to Snow Leopard.

Opened system preferences, selected the Display/Screensaver option to select my screensaver and it has just hung.

It's only the system preference box that has hung. It is completely unresponsive, I cant select anything and cant close it down.

Any tips?

macbook 13inch, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

First step: go to (hard disk)/Library/Screen Savers and move any contents out; also (hard disk)/(user)/Library/Screen Savers and move any contents out. This is in case you have selected a third-party screen saver which is no longer compatible. If this works you can try moving them back one at a time until it crashes again.

Second step: go to (hard disk)/(user)/Library/Preferences/ByHost and move out to the Desktop the file beginning with com.apple.screensaver...

I should then restart and try again.
