sync contacts with gmail

Lately I cannot sync my contacts with my gmail account anymore.
And when I try to configure it new in iTunes (e-mail address and password) it doesn't accept it.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Can you help me?
(I already deinstalled my gmail account on my iPhone and installed it again - no change!)

Use Google Sync, google it. You can get your contacts over the air via exchange.

I just now had a look at it!
Should work perfectly!
I still don't get why the normal way via iTunes doesn't work in my case anymore but this way I get to later also move my contacts to the new iPhone 4 that I should get soon!

It didn't quite work out the way I wanted it....
At the end I had double contacts on my iPhone, as it warned there probably would be.
And when I cancelled the connection it obviously deleted all of them again.

But if I don't find another solution I will maybe start with Google Sync when I get my new iPhone 4 (no double entries then!)
