Error in creating a Merge Document

Did you label the fields in the top row?

Was the Numbers table the only one in the document and/or the first table?

I am having the same exact issue! I've created a numbers document and made sure I had a header above each column of data and still get the same error that pops up.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I have. Even shut down all applications, restarted and tried it all over again with no luck.

If you like click on my blue name and send me both the Pages & Numbers documents and I'll see if I can spot the problem.

Three most common errors:

. Field names not in the Header row (not just the top row, but the top row being a Header row).

. Table not being the first listed table for the Sheet in the Sheets Pane. It doesn't matter where the Table is on the Sheet, but if it's not the only Table on that sheet, it must be the First Table in the list for that sheet. You can drag the name to the top of the list.

. And finally, not Saving the Numbers file before Merging in Pages.

Got it! What I thought was my header field was actually not my header field and just another row of data. Clicked on that arrow to the left of the row and converted it into a header. Saved the document and then was able to insert my merge fields in my pages document.

Glad that solved your problem. Headers can be a bit of trouble until we recognize how special they are.
