using Mac OS 9 with Snow Leopard so that I can play an old game?

Unfortunately, Snow Leopard does not support Classic. In addition, no Mac which has an Intel processor, such as your MacBook has, can use Classic or OS 9.

There are emulators available, such as SheepShaver, which are designed to allow the use of certain versions of OS 9 on Intel-processor Macs. However, I seriously doubt that either Myst or Raven would be able to run in that environment - any program which needs direct access to the machine's hardware (like the graphics card) will not work in such an environment, nor usually even in Classic; most of the better games fall into this category.

You would probably find it much easier to obtain a used older Mac, one capable of booting into OS 9, and use it for those games. An older G3 iMac or G3/G4 PowerMac (QuickSilver 2001 or earlier), a model which can use a retail OS 9 Install CD in some version, can be got quite cheap these days, often for less than $100.

As another Myst lover I can confirm that I have beaten the game fullscreen no graphics problems on 10.5.8 intel with sheepshaver a few months back. Had to update to a new (or should I say old?) classic quicktime and maybe a few other tweaks but it worked like a charm. I've found I've used sheepshaver to help out parents friends and such a few times as well, and my sis has played some of the old sims(tower/city) through it though I think she had edge of screen mouse tracking problems in simcity.

You can also check out Riven X which is a open source port so long as you have a riven serial or something.
