iTunes & Allmusic.com - automatic genres, styles & moods

When, oh God, when will iTunes and allmusic.com be paired up? It's a match that will revolutionize music! Allmusic.com has by far the most detailed, accurate & manageable database of artist and album genres, styles & moods. This could be incredibly useful for creating playlists quickly and effectively. There is absolutely nothing out there that works to automate genres effectively. Allmusic.com has done all of the brilliant work, now, someone from Apple just needs to tap into to it, and, badabing, iTunes has no more competition for the next 50 years. I've searched all over, but if anyone knows of an effective genre automator, please pass it on.

Be aware that not everybody will be quite as enthused about the Allmusic approach to genres as you are. The vast majority of their music is listed with "genre" of "pop/rock," which is then qualified with several "styles" for each artist, the styles being more what most of us would consider the genre. And since iTunes cannot make use of multiple genres (or styles) for a single track, there is already a compatibility issue, unless you just want millions of things listed as "pop/rock."

In reality, genre is a somewhat subjective choice, and there is no such thing as the "correct" genre for a piece of music.

However, if you want to make the suggestion to Apple, you can do so at the iTunes Feedback page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
