Can't play music purchased under an old iTunes ID

I can't play music I purchased under an old iTunes ID. iTunes states I need to authorize the song, but it brings up an old iTunes ID for which I don't have the password. I no longer have access to the email address associated with that ID as I don't work for that company anymore. How can I authorize the songs?

The question was asked "Why did I setup a new ID? Why didn't I update my old ID?". The answer to both questions is, I don't know/remember. I would have thought I would have updated my ID with my new email address instead of creating a new ID.

When I attempt to play my music, it says I have to authorize it first. The id that comes up is xxxx@eds.com. My id is xxxx. My email address is xxxxx@hotmail.com. The email address xxxx@eds.com is from the time when I worked for EDS, which I no longer do. I went to the forgot apple id website, changed my password for my xxxxx id, went back to iTunes, tried to play my song, it asked me for the info again (with xxxx@eds.com), replaced the id with xxxxx using the new password, it stated authorization was successful, attempted to play my music, received the same authorization request, filled in the info again with the xxxxx id, received the message that the computer is already authorized, attempted to play my music, received the same authorization request....
