iPhone Battery Dies Overnight!

Hi guys,
I have an iPhone 3GS and I recently updated to software 4.0.2. Since then my battery life has gone downhill. Last night, I charged my phone (it was fully charged) and went to bed. Woke up this morning 7 hours later and my battery was completey dead. Since then my battery goes from fully charged to empty in around 4-5 hours even with no use and when I touch it, it feels hot.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so, what the solution was. My iPhone is less than a year old. Thanks heaps!!

Since my first post, I visited Apple and it was the fact that after upgrading and with the multi tasking function I had a whole heap of apps still running. So now I make it a point to close any apps I open frequently so it's not chewing up battery.

Also, I had an Exchange email account configured and the guy at Apple said they'd recently been having issues with Exchange and changed Fetch Data option to Fetch (every 15 mins) instead of Push which was what I had.

All in all, battery is back to normal just by doing those two things and I'm back to being a happy Apple customer 🙂 Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread btw!

I have Had exactly the same problem, I took my phone back to the o2 shop to be told my phone had to go off for repair 😟 after spending a night without it I rang apple and said after paying that amount of money for a phone I expect a loan phone or a replacement straightaway,(Not the rubbish they loaned me) and not wait 2 weeks as told by the o2 shop! Apple have arranged for me to have a replacement phone if I drive to Cambridge to collect it from the Apple store! this is a great service but surely if Apple allow shops to sell their product they should offer the same service as an Apple store!Right I'm off to get my right arm back! I feel so lost without it!
