Unable to initialize my Sony HDR-HC5 deck

I have never had trouble in the past connecting my Sony HDR-HC5 deck to Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 using the HDV capture preset. I did recently upgrade to Snow Leopard (Mac OS 10.6.4) which has the new Quicktime X. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the HDV capture preset not working. It will allow me to use the Intermediate Codec to crash digitize in FCP which is less than ideal.

Any thoughts? I did trash my preferences, but it still won't initialize the deck.
