Has 4.1 fixed the Proximity Sensor issue for you?

How do you mean 'louder speaker'? Is the maximum volume louder or the minimum volume? I don't really want my minimum voume increasing....

the maximum volume seems louder for me and people can really understand me now... before they thought i was in a tunnel. really happy with the phone !!!

The screen stills comes on but i can't seem to touch the buttons anymore with my face. Nothing happens when i do. So i think it is solved for me.

that's weird how you guys still have PS issue. Now i hold my phone 1 inch away from my ear and the screen still off. In this case i would check with genius bar for a replacement.

I'm on my 5th replacement. They finally stopped and told me to wait for a fix.

Like you i still have the screen turning on. But when ik touch the screen with my face the buttons do not respond. So no mute, face dial, speaker etc.

Maybe you should test that.

i guess i can make a video and show you guys that i am not kidding!!! almost 2 inches away from the head and screen still off.

It's not that we don't believe you. Obviously their are some good phones out there. Mine usually shuts off about an inch away from my face, but for some reason after about 10 to 20 minutes into a phone call, it will stop working properly. I'm guessing it's most likely caused by my greasy face...lol

It may be a tad better, but it's still not where it needs to be. Still no where near what it was with my 3GS.

I installed 4.1 on my iPhone4. I made some tests and found new bug in Apple proximity algorithm. During a call, when the screen light off for the first time everything is ok. You can make natural hand or head movements with no problems at all. But if you let the screen to light on for a short time, the algorithm going back to its previous known stage ( iOS 4.x) and the sensor started to register every movements.

sorry to hear that. i guess they should start make phones in US not in china. US standards are higher.

I wasn't able to replicate this on my phone (iPhone 4 w/ 4.1). I tried with both ears, moving the phone away a little or a lot, leaving it away from my ear for various time lengths, etc.

The only time I was able to get the sensor to come on (and hand up the call with my face) was when I was pressing the phone to my ear with my right shoulder (didn't test it w/ my left shoulder). However, I don't think that is anything an algorithm can fix as I think the culprit there is much more the placement of the sensor than anything else.
