Q: iOS 4.1 Camera Roll thumbnails

After upgrading to iOS 4.1, all my camera roll thumbnails were replaced by a giant black box. Anyone else having this issue?

*+A SOLUTION*!+

Guys I had the same issue with the black box. Only maybe 30 or so images were affected though at the end of the roll but still as you all describe.

This is my first post so I hope you find it useful.

*_THE FIX_*
Download 'iPhone Explorer' (Google that one and it's free for Win/Mac).

Plug iPhone in and navigate to the PHOTODATA folder.

Locate these three files:
1. Photos.sqlite
2. PhotosAUX.sqlite
3. com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist

Save them to your computer.

Delete them from your iPhone.

Restart your iPhone and let if boot fully.

Open 'Photos' and wait for the iPhone to 'rebuild the library'.

Enjoy your thumbnails once more!

    I know that there has been helpful suggestions offered here, but let me throw in what just worked for me.

     

    I have an unlocked iPhone 3GS running 4.1 because a year ago it's all I could get working with my carrier T-Mobile.

     

    I took some great footage of a concert and I didn't know how to get the 2.6 GB off my phone.

     

    I looked for help.

     

    The best help was in a Lifehacker article "The Best Desktop File Explorer For iPhone" in which they suggested we use the iFunBox program to upload and download freely from our iDevices.

    A quick install (1.3mb) with a quick and easy install I was ready to go in two minutes.

     

    It's an intutiive program that downloaded to my MBP in less than 3 minutes about 3GBs worth of priceless pix and videos.
