I can no longer search for movies through apple tv

I'm having the same issue! I restarted the unit, just to establish a new network connection, but its the same. Since the interface is network based, maybe the engine is down for maintenance or something. I have seen it before. Kind of annoying.

i have the same issue; i can't search movies. i thought about restoring my settings but i think i might lose my wish list.... any one can help?

Exact same problem here! I moved to my girlfriend's place 2 days ago! When we wanted to rent a movie, i noticed that suddenly the search option was missing! Looking at the posts in this forum, it seems that this is a recent problem with people?! Thanks

I'm having this issue too. I can still rent movies from the top movies list or the the other viewers watched part, but I just can't search for them or bring up the in depth menus. Very annoying. Is this to do with the new apple tv release? Is the store being updated. Don't know about you guys but I'm in Australia having this problem.

I just talked to Apple Care. The guy I talked to was not aware of this issue and suggested the following: 1) Erase the entire Apple TV (i.e. Restore factory settings) then see if the search option comes back. If not, then 2) "we might have to replace that Apple TV"!!

Did u factory default, did it work? I have the same issue, I can only see my movies and trailers in the movie tab, really annoying.

Same problem - did the full restore and then apply updates - the Movies menu still only has My Movies and Trailers - cannot search, browse top movies or by genre.

This is either an iTUnes Store or a iTunes 10 problem.

Hope this is not the new view that u get cos of the release of the new atv, I liked it as it was

I didn't factory default. I just pulled the power cable and gave it a few minutes then reconnected it. The Search option is now back! Hope this works for everyone.

I checked today and it is back to normal, not sure what the problem was......

I restarted my Apple TV yesterday and the search option reappeared. All I can think is that this is related to the release of the new Apple TV and that the store was being upgraded in some capacity.
