mail with separate users?

We will be getting our new imac in the next day or so and I've got a question regarding mail setup. I was originally thinking to set up the imac with two user accounts, one for me and one for my wife. But we want to share music, videos, and pictures. From what I read the music is pretty easy to deal with, but the photos are much more of a hassle. So my next thought was to just setup the computer with one account so we can share everything easily, but configure mail with two separate users. We both have multiple email accounts so I would prefer they are not all together on one screen, but separate. Is this possbile?
