4.1 proximity sensor glowing red... Dangerous?

Just updated to iOS4.1, noticed a red light above my earpiece after some research, this is the proximity sensor I read.

So, did I just never notice this before now? Or is it new to iOS4.1

Will my phone's battery drain quicker if it is using more power?

Is the IR dangerous to health?

You can only see it in a dark room, not in broad daylight.

This seams to be an after affect of the 4.1... I have had all version of iPhone and none have ever shown that glow... I imagine that the issue with the sensor was to the point they needed to strengthen the sesativity of it and thus the glow shows...it won't harm you health wise and the battery part...hard to tell... personally I really really doubt it affects much...

Think of your TV remote or other devices that use IR, those devices use battery power near constantly and your 2 AA batteries last for a long time in TV remotes... I 'd have to vote for nearly no difference in battery but hey...who knows 🙂
