GameCenter ID (nickname)

I registered my preferred gamecenter nickname successfully and logged into game center. Now, when I login again, I'm presented with a new user registration. If I attempt to use the same nickname I tried successfully before, it now tells me that nickname is already in use. How do I get my gamecenter back to the original nickname I already registered?

hey a similar situation happened to me, i was liking the gamecenter, until i opened it up and was presented a new sign up page, after a lot of fiddling and thinking i put in my apple id and a new nick name, and it allowed me in, only one thing tho all my friends and achievements had gone which really ****** me of! anyways friends arnt a problem u just add them back and the achievements i just thought u cud play them and gain them back but u cant! only a few games synced the achievements back (angry birds) but most of my games u can now only gain the achievements u didn't unlock in the first place.....for example... *cut the rope* in gamecenter i have the achievement complete gift box and none of the previous achievements!!! its the most frustrating thing ever! and ive try deleting the games and installing them back in from i tunes and its still the same :S:S:S sum1 please help lol i just want the achievments back!

I just had the same problem. It gave me a new nickname simply adding the number 2 to my original nickname and I can't get the old one back. It is "taken". This has caused my Zombie Farm game to start all over again. I really like this game but it moves slowly and to get back to where I was would take too long. If I can't find a way back I will delete the game. Help please!

I'm having this same issue.

I have two Apple ID's - not by choice, but because when I signed up for MobileMe I apparently had a second one created for me, but with @me.com attached. At first, I suspected this was the issue. Now, I doubt it, but who knows.

At first, the problem was that any attempt to sign into GameCenter using my old account was resulting in GameCenter asking for my @me.com password (it would actually display my me.com account name, even though that's not what I entered for Apple ID). I eventually fixed this by going to Settings > Store and signing out... then (without signing in), going back to GameCenter and trying to sign in again.

HOWEVER, now it says the account has never been used with GameCenter before - but that's not true because I'm signed in on my iPhone 4 just fine. So I go ahead with the "Create New Account" screen, but it won't let me use my old username.

To get it working, I just gave up and wrapped my old username in quotes... which GameCenter took happily. I have to say, this is very annoying.

This had me in a panic but this is what worked for me.


Game Center was trying to log me in by default with my email address whatever@whatever.com, but I had to change this to my Apple ID which is just a string of text, and then I put in my password for my Apple ID.


I also earlier had to change my Apple ID password because it was not secure enough by default and it was not letting me log in, so I went from the link in my email to the apple password change page and I changed the password to make the new security happy.


I then logged in first time and didn't have to put in a nickname or anything - yay


Hope this helps someone - I would have cried to have to redo all those **** achievements!!
