All system dictionaries are shared across applications - and they're in /Library/Dictionaries. You can remove from there and reboot.

OK. are you talking about the file 'Apple Dictionary.dictionary'? than go in via 'Packages? there many files appear but I am not sure what to remove to for example remove the US dictionary?

Let's backtrack a bit. Can you explain which dictionaries you want to remove, and why? If you wanted to remove a whole dictionary, you would delete the entire .dictionary package file from the /Library/Dictionaries folder. For example, I have:

    Apple Dictionary
    New Oxford American Dictionary
    Oxford American Writer's Thesaurus

    among others.

I want to remove for example the US English dictionary so it is no longer available to Mail.

    Apple Dictionary
    New Oxford American Dictionary
    Oxford American Writer's Thesaurus

    among others.

    me too.
