IOS 4.1 - Calendar Colors Muted

After the update yesterday, I opened my IPhone calendar to find that the colors were muted with a 'faded' look. The bright colors that previously appeared on my phone/mobileme have changed dramatically.

The change is not subtle and is very unattractive.

Note: The colors for each calendar are correct- they have just faded drastically. All other colors on my phone remain crisp.

Anyone else with this problem?

Faded & Muted colors are just so much more DIFFICULT discern. So I am 110% with the bunch here for a revival of Solid, Easily Distinguishable Colors. Like it used to be.

Look here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/mobileme/ , and tell me if you see muted colors on the iPhone on the top right section. No, it's in SOLID colors. Why? Simple - it looks more attractive when you are trying to promote something.

Likewise, Apple Dev's should seriously consider giving us back solid colors - on iPhone and on Mac's iCal. If you know enough to enhance the colors on your own website, can't you imagine your users would want the same benefit? Duh...

Hi, everyone, I posted a similar discussion about the muted colors. I was surprised to see this post because I thought I was an anomaly still having the muted colors. It appears the bright colors have made a comeback, but I don't know how to make mine come back!

See these posts with the original, bright colors!
One of them was from the Apple product website:

The colours now are horrible. You just get used to something being one way for 2 years, then they go and screw it up. It wouldn't be so bad if I could pick my own slightly less disgusting colours, but it just randomly assigns them. This one is getting a complaint back to Apple, form me. I hope the millions of other iPhone users do the same. After all, Steve said he loves his customers and wants to keep us happy.

Oh, and it took 4 tried to download the update. Thats 2GB of my data I'll never get back this month.

Sorry but the colours do NOT match iCal. My colours used to be solid but now are pastel. My main calendar is a horrible pastel purple while in iCal the colour is dark blue.

However what I did discover was that it is not the case if you setup a new iPhone. I bought a new iPhone for the wife and when syncing the calendars, the colours where as before - solid colours.

I also have the issue of nothing showing when in list view until you switch back to day or month and then back to list.

I'm having the same issue, however, I sync 5 google calendars with my iPhone and also with iCal. Syncing all the colors to match was a manual pain, but I finally was successful. With this new update, it is impossible for me to even manually change the colors using google sync because the colors the iPhone assigns are Purple, Orange, Red, Brown, Brown, Brown, Brown...you get the idea. I could live with the muted colors if the original colors were still in there somewhere (green and blue!). 😟

The pastel "dot" coloring in the month view of the calendar is the main problem for me. I have a dozen important calendars, plus several that I subscribe to from my wife, and these are very important. I need to be able to scan a month and easily sort out which calendar event is which, and it's very difficult now. The pastel color dots are so small it's hard to sort out the brown from the pink from the purple and so forth.

While I don't mind the pastel in other views (like the week view), they really need to allow us to have bright color dots on the month view so it's easier to see them.

I just upgraded to Lion and was appalled when I opened iCal. There was a disgusting faux leather strip across the top of the calendar and all the calendar colors are these pukey pastel colors. Like the color pallate of the Golden Girls wardrobe. It looks so old fashioned.

I've been using Apple since 1994 and this is by far the most ugly design choice they have ever made. It worries me because Apple has always been so modern. I managed to remove the faux leather strip at the top by using this trick: http://www.simpleandusable.com/news/how-to-remove-the-faux-leather-in-ical-for-o s-x-lion.html. If anyone knows a similar trick for fixing the colors, please let me know.
