FaceTime unable to activate
I have an iPod touch 4g on which I have been trying to activate FaceTime. Every time I try I get the message "Could no sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." I have tried creating a new account and port forwarding and still can't get it to work. Any suggestions on what else to try?
I went to the Apple store, with the store wifi I had no issues activating and connecting with FaceTime. Has to be a firewall issue, even from the coffee shop downstairs.
I had the same problem as every one else with the activation of FaceTime. The only way that I was able to fix this problem was to go to an Apple store and activate your account using their wifi and servers. Now that my account is activated, Facetime works at my wifi locations. Forget this idea of playing with router setting or creating new user accounts. That does not work. Just go to Apple and use their wifi and servers. It will and does work.
I had the exact same problem and was very frustrated. Followed the advise above and went to the Apple store. Did not need to talk to anyone. Just connected to the store's wifi. Then was able to activate Facetime no problem. Got home and connected to my wifi. Face time is still active and seems to me OK. Just waiting for a friend with facetime to be available to complete the test. But so far so good.
Hi I am also facing the same problem but the worse part is that I just bought the new iPod touch and flew abroad. I can't visit sole store now, so please tell me the solution if you could resolve this issue
My problem with FaceTime is a bit similar but kinda different. I just got an iPod touch 4 and now I can't access FaceTime because a message keeps popping up "your username and password don't match" on the Apple ID I'm using. Yet the Apple ID username and password are correct and I had to change my password again!
I guess it must be the Wi-Fi I'm using at the college I'm attending classes at. I know they have a Barracuda web filter so they're firewall must be blocking VoIP over Wi-Fi connections, which ***** and may be the reason why Gmail calling wouldn't work over Wi-Fi. FaceTime is a great idea but it should be available over 3G and/or provide some way to bypass firewalls. I wonder if there's any iPod touch or iOS 4 compatible proxy servers I can use.
The only advice I can give is call Apple at 1-800-APL-CARE or figure out how to use the proxy settings and find proxy servers that might help.
I'm having the same problem! It also sometimes says that my email is being used by another account. I know that my apple id is correct as well as my email. Also, when I try and switch to the front camera the camera app freezes and can't be unfrozen unless the iPod is restored. Has anyone found a way to fix this?
I have also the same issue i bought an ipod touch this weekend and tried to activate it today and I couldn't and its kind of difficult to go a apple store because i live a broad. also I tried with my brothers apple ID and couldn't
Help!!!
I had that problem. Me and an AppleCare rep figured out that FaceTime will only recognize your AppleID if it's an email address. Mine wasn't. I had to log into my account via iTunes and change my AppleID to match my email address. Then I was able to activate FaceTime.
Okay so I fixed my problem! :]
seems like Facetime wont take your apple ID if its not in the format of an email (yourname@me.com) I had to create a new account -_- but it worked
make sure you validate your account on the computer before you try to sign in to Facetime!
