Playlists in order without stopping? Can someone do me a solid and try this

Can the new 6th gen nano do this? (I just got a PRODUCT RED 16 new nano, but haven't opened it yet. I want to know if it can do the following before I open it:)

Thanks.

The iPhone and iPod touch can take a podcast and play it IN TIME ORDER, without stopping, wonderfully. Say you download Scientific American's 60-second podcast or John Hodgman's Today in the Past podcast. You go into the iPod app, pick the podcast, click on the first episode (which will properly be the episode that was posted most in the past), and -- without stopping -- listen to all the other episodes in order. It's great.

The 5th gen iPod nano cannot do this. If you click on a podcast and start an episode, it ALWAYS stops after each episode. Changing the shuffle setting, or anything else, does not help. (At least I can't get it to help.) This is a real pain when driving (or other times too) because you keep having to re-click to listen to every episode. I know that a workaround is to make a playlist (or an on-the-go playlist), but this has to be done every time and is a true pain.

So, does the new iPod nano simply play podcasts through from most distant podcast episode until the most recent, without any prodding?

This is make-or-break for me keeping the nano, so I am very appreciative of anyone who can try this and let me know.

Thanks.

1. In iTunes, create a playlist and populate it with the podcasts in the order in which you want to listen to them.

2. Load the playlist into your Nano 6G

3. On the Nano Home screen, tap "Playlists" ( not the Podcasts) icon on your Nano to display the playlists. This is the trick.

4. Tap the iPod playlist you are interested in. The list members are displayed in the same order you gave them.

5. Tap the podcast you want to listed to.

The podcasts will play in the order you gave them, one after the other without stopping.

Again, for this to work, you must access your podcast playlist through the Playlists icon on the home screen. Not the Podcasts icon.

Thanks for the hint.

I already do this for my no-button-shuffle and G5 nano. It's a horrible pain.

The iPhone and iPod touch don't need this lunacy. Why wouldn't I want to subscribe to a Podcast and automatically listen to the episodes in order? At least this should be a settable option. I don't want to have to babysit it and adjust syncing all the time. With my iPhone I just grab and go. Podcasts are listed in order of their episode, and I can listen to multiple episodes by just tapping the first.

All this said, though, I put up with it on my G5 nano. It turns out that I synced the VERY SAME playlists -- made just as you describe below -- with the new 6G nano, and they DID NOT WORK right. They were smart playlists that capture the last x episodes and can play them through. The Apple store genius reproduced my problem and admitted that the same smart playlists that work just fine on the 5G nano (and other iPods and iPhone) fill with NO songs at all on the 6G nano. I demonstrated it using my Mac-based iTunes library. They were able to reproduce. Lunacy.

My 6G went back. No return charge.
