Column Browser Unavailable

I have synced my iPhone with my entire library, but now when I have the phone connected to the computer and look at the Music on it, I can't sort the music (change which column is highlighted) or use the Column Browser. This makes it tough to see what's on there (I know, it SHOULD be whatever is in my iTunes library). Any way to enable the option to change which column is highlighted so I can sort by Artist instead of Disc Number?
