Q: Can't delete songs from my iPhone 4

Thank you, I had the same problem and this worked perfectly.

This (or perhaps a slight variation of this) worked for me. Under Summary, I ticked Manually manage... and hit Apply. After that, I was able to delete all the songs visible in (left menu) On My Device > Music.
