Merging MP3 music with still image

I'm trying to play an MP3 music file in conjuntion with a still image being displayed.
Not sure if Quicktime is the best program to use for this.

Ultimately I'm trying to upload a video to youtube. The video is just a still jpeg image that doesn't have any effects. I also have an MP3 music file I would like to play as the image is being displayed and run on the youtube video.

I am going to need to convert the music and video to the appropriate youtube format as well so any help here would also be appreciated.

This seems like the most simplest of tasks but i'm pretty new to using Mac so not quite sure which application is best to use.

Thanks.

I find that other options than quicktime work best for this and suggest you post a version of this question in the iMovie discussion list (both HD and 09), as well in the iPhoto list. Iphoto has a fine slideshow option that lets you merge music with photos. Easy and on all Macs. (Here is the iPhoto tutorial for slideshows... http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/#slideshow)

Also one can check out the Aperture list. Aperture has a wonderful slideshow option that allows direct upload to YouTube. It does cost though.
Other options include Final Cut Express, though that is expensive overkill for this simple project.
If you have iMovie 09, you can put the image in, put the time to the time of the music, drag the music file in, upload to YouTube. Feel free to email me, but I advise checking out the Apple tutorials.
