Sreen kind of floats in certain online apps

I never experienced this before. The problem started with the latest Safari and when I try to go back to 4 it does the same thing.

In certain online apps I attempt to move the screen around, in this case it is a game screen. If you push with the mouse it will continue to move after your motion stops. It is driving me crazy and I cannot find a pref that might control this. I want the screen to stay with my mouse rather than float past it.

I hope this makes sense to someone.

You tried to go back to 4? I don't understand....

Also, open System Preferences / Mouse and adjust your settings.

If that doesn't help, cleaning a mouse can make a difference.

This problem is specific to Safari. It does not happen in Firefox. It is not my mouse. I went back to Safari 4 because it is new after updating SL to 10.6.4 but the problem did not go away. It is in a pref somewhere.

If you have Photoshop CS4 it is similar to when you want to move to a different area in your picture using the move tool. You can kind of toss it across the screen but in the browser it does a very bad job of this.

I cannot describe it any better than this.

Ok...

Install the v10.6.4 Combo Update

Then repair permissions.

Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

You need to full version to do this. It was worth a shot.

Can you take a video of this with a camera, download to your Mac, then upload to a web based image hosting service such as Photobucket????

Before you try that... I wonder if this is a graphics or video card problem. Try running the Apple Hardware Test, instructions here. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509

That way you can rule out any hardware problems.

Yes, I could..Would I? No. I'm not that motivated. 🙂

Nothing wrong with my graphics card. This is just Safari and just in one program.
