SymbolMT Font Missing

SymbolMT does not come with OS X; it is a commercial font owned by MonoType (which is what the MT in the name stands for) with licensing restrictions. If you've opened a document that requires that font, you might ask the sender to use a different font. This problem arises typically when they bold/italicize the font (the Symbol font that comes with the system only has the Regular variant).

Well, it should be in ~/Library/Fonts/. It's easier just to run the Font Book program in your Applications folder, though, in order to manage them.

A simple search for "symbolmt" in Google pulls up all sorts of places from which to download a copy, but of course I can't vouch for the quality or legality of any of them. 🙂

Since SymbolMT does not come with the operating system, the OS does not use it at all.
