Q: Can the iPod 6th Gen. be completely turned off ?

I think we have to disconnect the headphones to get off properly.

Nope. mine was fully charged last night and per the user manual, all you can do it press the sleep/wake button. Wanted to just now go for a run but i have a dead ipod now. returning it later today.

I returned mine today -- full refund at the Apple Store.

Bought it today and I immediately noticed this problem and found this thread. What a disappointment. If I can't leave it in a gym bag for a day or two without the battery draining, it's useless to me, despite it being beautiful and otherwise such a good device. Returning mine tomorrow.

Trust me, Steve gets hourly reports on sales and returns of all Apple products anytime he wants. But leaving feedback at the official Apple product feedback page also helps them understand why.
