Sep 11, 2010 10:11 AM in response to Proftomby Proftom,This question is about the iPod Nano 6th generation.
Can the iPod Nano 6th Gen. be completely turned off ?
There is a Sleep/Wake switch but NO On/Off switch.
How do you turn it completely?
Thanks -
Sep 11, 2010 11:27 AM in response to Proftomby Proftom,From another Topic discussion about the same question, it looks like the answer is NO !!!
Really DUMB !!!
Note to Steve Jobs:
Please fix this omission in the next software update to the 6th Gen. iPod Nano.
Otherwise you will lose sales (See previous Topic on this subject) -
Sep 11, 2010 11:44 AM in response to Proftomby YCylq,I think we have to disconnect the headphones to get off properly.
This is not practical! -

Sep 11, 2010 2:25 PM in response to YCylqby Proftom,Disconnecting the headphones still won't let you turn it completely off.
The online Apple Manual says that the battery will continue to draw a little current even in the Sleep Mode.
All internal electronics, except the display screen, runs 24/7
Apple needs to fix this ASAP. -
Sep 11, 2010 3:19 PM in response to Proftomby Stacer44,Nope. mine was fully charged last night and per the user manual, all you can do it press the sleep/wake button. Wanted to just now go for a run but i have a dead ipod now. returning it later today. -
Sep 11, 2010 4:44 PM in response to Stacer44by Linda Custer,I returned mine today -- full refund at the Apple Store. -
Sep 11, 2010 5:57 PM in response to Linda Custerby Proftom,The Apple website Technical Specification say:
"Up to 24 hours of music playback when fully charged"
This does not seem to be correct.
And you can't completely shut off the ipod nano.
I'm returning mine tomorrow (and I really like it) -
Sep 11, 2010 6:53 PM in response to Proftomby adamcx,Bought it today and I immediately noticed this problem and found this thread. What a disappointment. If I can't leave it in a gym bag for a day or two without the battery draining, it's useless to me, despite it being beautiful and otherwise such a good device. Returning mine tomorrow. -
Sep 11, 2010 7:08 PM in response to adamcxby Proftom,I hope Steve Jobs or someone at Apple sees this thread and notices how many people are unhappy with the new 6th Gen. iPod Nano and ARE RETURNING them to Apple.
And I really like it, except for this problem. -
Sep 12, 2010 7:48 AM in response to Proftomby Linda Custer,Trust me, Steve gets hourly reports on sales and returns of all Apple products anytime he wants. But leaving feedback at the official Apple product feedback page also helps them understand why. -
Sep 12, 2010 6:37 PM in response to Proftomby FlizzyFresh,STEVE JOBBS, SOFTWARE UPDATE PLEASE!!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO TURN MY NANO 6TH GEN OFF COMPLETELY!!! I TRAVEL AND SOMETIMES ITS NOT PRACTICAL TO JUST SLEEP THE IPOD FOR 24 HOURS.

I'm sure that the Apple Exec Staff is revising its revenue projection to reflect your dismay.
