Final Cut Pro 7 keeps crashing

Final Cut Pro 7 keeps crashing

Hey, So Final Cut Pro 7 keeps crashing whenever I go to import something, whether it be music, a picture, a graphic, etc. I click import-what I want to import-choose, and then it crashes.

So I was wondering if anyone knew why and how to fix that problem.

There could be numerous things causing crashes, but first off, try trashing the preferences using:-

I did that and it's still not working...sometimes ill even just click the import button and once i do that it will crash, but thats the only time it crashes on me...when i try to import something

It sounds as though you may be using an Easy Setup and sequence that does not match the material you are trying to import.

Can you give exact details of what you are doing, file formats etc.?

Have you used FCP successfully before or are you new to it?

Also, how did you install your OS/FCS?

Were these done from scratch (Archive/Erase/Install), or did you use Migration Assistant or some other process to set up your current configuration?

I've been having the same issue. It's only been a problem since the upgrade to FCP 7, and generally only on import. Although FCP also seems less tolerant of the OS running copies or other functions in the background.
