May 5, 2012 3:29 PM in response to Chris CAby ansky55,Just transfered most of my playlists from my ipod to itunes on my pc which has windows 7. For some reason some songs could not be found, but for the most part it went very smoothly. Thanks VERY MUCH!!! for the procedural advice that even an ignoramus like me could follow. Dec 4, 2013 6:47 PM in response to Neymarjr1118by turingtest2,See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
If your library already has the media and you're only needing to extract playlists my script ImportDevicePlaylists might be what you are after.

Dec 4, 2013 7:02 PM in response to Neymarjr1118by turingtest2,A playlist is an ordered list of pointers to media files. If the media files themselves aren't where the playlist expects them to be then the entries in the list will be ignored. .

Put "what" there?
You don't put the xml file anywhere.

Dec 4, 2013 7:17 PM in response to Chris CAby Neymarjr1118,The file is "automatically add to tunes" and if I don't put it in there then am lost. I have the music already on my itunes libaray from my ipod, all I want to do is transfer them into my window's itunes libaray.

Dec 4, 2013 8:40 PM in response to Neymarjr1118by Chris CA,As turingtest2 noted, a playlist is simply a list of songs. It does not contain any song files.
If you want to take the songs off your iPod and put them into iTunes..
iTunes menu File > Devices, select your device then Transfer Purchases.
This will transfer only your iTunes purcahses.
If you have stuff on yoru ipod that are not iTunes purchases, see this -> https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
