If you are considering getting Virgin Mobil's Broadband2go, using the usb stick (Novatel MC760), save your money. The device doesn't work on all Mac products.

When I try running the application that they provide to open the connection, I get the message "You can't open the application Broadband2Go because it may be damaged or incomplete." I also tried this on an older macmini (core duo, unknown model, 10.5.7 OS X Server) and received a different message along the lines of the architecture being not supported.

I activated, as suggested on the internet, the device on Windows XP. And I tried installing Novatel's drivers. To no avail.

So, if you are considering broadband2go, save your money for a company that actually validates their software.

Just gor the Virgin Mobile MiFi card and I can't get my iPhone 3GS to connect, but my Macbook (which I'm using to write this) has no problem connecting. I really don't plan on using the card with my phone but I thought I would give it a shot. I think it may have something to do with them both using a 3G network iPhone on AT&T, Virgin Mobile Sprint.

After waiting a couple of weeks for Bestbuy to ship a VMmifi, I walked into a local RadioShack and bought one on the spot. After a little trouble with the setup, everything works fine. I actually bought it so I could use my Windows PC while away from a network. It certainly works fine for that, so I played around a bit with my iPad (3g) and iPhone. They both work great.

When I am at a customer site, I connect tot their network with my PC using a wired connection and a strange proxy but cannot connect to their wireless network because of security. I use the mifi to connect my iPad in a private wlan configuration with my PC for file sharing, etc. while still connected to the wired network for the PC.

Works great. It also work in those (many) places where the ATT network is a litle skimpy. This weekend, my wife used it (she has an iPad without 3g). All without problems.

The only issue I have had with the VM device is the way it handles passwords. The set up process allows you to change the default password, but apparently it doesn't change it right away. I changed it, but could not log on using the new PW. In desperation, I tried the default password (which is unique to each device by the way) and it worked!

I assumed that the change password process just didn't work. Not a big deal. Then a couple of days later, I tried to log on, and the password was changed! Very odd.
