Remove Game Center icon from iPhone

It is a pity that one cannot remove the icon. It's not destructive, just annoying. There was another thread that got suddenly very hot that has now been removed (wisely), suggesting that quite a number of people didn't want the icon. I have left feedback. But I can live with the icon 🙂

Which is the most constructive thing to do!

Ranting an raving to your fellow users is not particularly useful, especially if you consider that some of them may be avid gamers.

Yep, I'm just another iPhone user that has just updated my iPhone only to find a lame 80's looking icon for something I don't want, didn't ask for and cannot remove. Balls to you Apple for this rubbish!!! At least advise of this when offering the update...but really, don't take away the option to have or have not something on our own phones!.

This new built-in app has generated a lot of negative comments, but as pointed out earlier, it is part of the OS and can't be removed. You can drag it to the end of your app list, or hide it in a junk folder, and you can log feedback on the Apple website (see earlier posts). But we have to live with it 😟

Think of it this way... The app is part of the OS to aid developers that don't have a lot of funding, or just want to save on costs! It's not for apple to make more money! Some ( a lot)developers are start ups that can't afford to host large enough severs for multiplayer games on their own! Apple is simply hosting this server for them! Because of this it is necessary to be built into the OS! If it was not, the games built for it would have a major problem when installed because they'd be unable to locate necessary files!

So even though there may be plenty of people who don't want it or won't use it I guarantee there are more that do! It's a necessary component to suit the needs of the many! Don't complain, just hide it with the rest of the unnecessary (to you) apps and go on with your day!

You can use Google to find ways to do it.

Keep in mind though, that your phone will then be forever frozen in time with iOS 4.0.

So you'll have to hope that any future updates don't contain features that you actually want.

My suggestions is to just move Game Center to some deep dark folder hidden away place on you phone.

You can't delete any of the apps that are part of the iphone OS, including Game Center. You can move it to your last page or put it in a folder, that's about it.

The game didn't put Game Center on your phone, iOS 4.1 did that...

the same way you move any apps around... press and hold the icon until you get jiggle mode...then drag it to the desired location...

They did ... Read the documentation before you install software. Lesson learned...
