How to tell if iphone's been jailbroken?

I'm new to iphone.
I have an iphone 4.
How do I find out if my phone's been jailbroken?

I don't see the cydia icon but I hear even if it doesn't show, it could still be jailbroken.

Restore it and update to 4.1
There is currently no jailbreak for 4.1

If your iPhone has been jailbroken your boot screen with the Apple-Logo, on the very top, will show an interupted 1 pixel line instead of a whole black background.

just restore de iPhone and activate it, if nothing goes wrong your iPhone was never been jailbroken

I guess mine wasn't jailbroken.
When I booted it, the background was all black.
