Where is the Hardware Test CD?

Where is the Hardware Test CD?

I have a G4 mirrored doors and lately been experiencing constant crashes, freezes, etc. I've been researching both here in the forums and other places on the net. I keep reading about the Apple Hardware Test CD. There was no such CD when I bought my G4. There is no file on the CD that came with the G4 for restoring software, OS, etc. I have an Apple Care CD but that's only TechTools Deluxe. Can someone help?

G4, Mac OS X (10.4.3)

insert your install/restore CD,hold down the C key,and reboot.HW test should be there.

Actually, the 'C' key won't boot the Hardware Test volume. The Option key will.

Unfortunately, it's not on the restore/install CD that came with my G4. Doesn't matter as I'm now using TechTool Pro 4.1.1. Thanks anyway.

Earlier G4s came with a silvery labelled CD called Hardware Test if the restore disk doesn't have Hardware Test.

I was looking for the same disk and found your post. I just got off the phone with an Apple technical specialist and she told me to boot from disk 2 of OSX installation CD's and the hardware test is available on that disk.

Please note: I checked out the OSX disk 2 scenario as described by the Apple tech support, but the disk does not boot nor does it contain any hardware test. Back on my search.
