Clicker not working!

My 5th gen Nano still works but the clicker has stopped functioning completely! I can only start to listen to a track by shaking the nano to start it and then shake again to change the track. I have rebooted (Menu and Centre still works), reinstalled the software via ITunes etc. Any ideas? Luckily my headphones have a volume control otherwise the nano would be useless! I use it for jogging and when it went wrong I sent it back for repair. Apparently it now has "Water damage" so the guarantee is invalid after only 4 months use. Not fit for purpose if it can't be used in a pocket for jogging!! I see the new 6th gen Nano has done away with the clicker. Admission of bad design maybe??
