Backward compatability for Avalon Hill games?

I'm dying to get some old Avalon Hill computer games. I used to play them on boards with dice and I've never found any modern computer games that have the same war simulation feel. Not shoot em up bang bang games but games where you have to think like a general and consider tactics that simulate real battlefields and weapons. So as a side note if anyone knows of other computer games like Avalon Hill please let me know.

Most of the Avalon Hill games I've found don't even run on modern Windows let alone on Macs but I found one (Stalingrad) that works on Mac V7. Any chance that 10.6.4 would be compatible or is there any fairly easy way I could make it work?

iMac4,1, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Hi JGatsby;

If as your profile says you are running Snow Leopard then your hardware is Intel and to run anything prior to OS X you must have a PowerPC Mac instead. So it isn't going to be easy to do what you want.

There is a hack called Sheep Shaver that claims to be able to run some of the older software. It is not a simple hack to install.

Generally the recommendation is to get older hardware that is capable of running the older version of Mac OS required.
