Can you transfer apps from iPod to iPod?

Okay, im thinking of buying the new iPod Touch 4th Generation, currently i have the iPod Touch 3rd Generation, my question is that, if i download all my apps on my iPod right now to my iTunes, then when i get my new iPod, will the apps transfer to the new one?

Also, is there ANYTHING that would be left behind on my old iPod? that cant transfer to the new one?

Or like, can apple do a transfer for me?

Yes, except for any which are specifically listed as incompatible.

Also, is there ANYTHING that would be left behind on my old iPod?

The Transfer Purchases operation doesn't erase content from the iPod or other device. If you want that, restore it afterwards.

Apps can't be transferred between iPods without going through iTunes, but they can be freely redownloaded.

if my friend gets my iPod touch 3rd gen when i finally get my iPod 4th gen, what does she need to do so she can start as if she had a new unit, and download her own apps?

i plan to get the 4th gen iPod touch, and i am glad that this question re transferring apps from iPod to iPod was asked. now, i know that i don't have to worry and my apps in present iPod touch won't get lost when i move on to the newer unit.

well when you say that im guessing you mean how do you reset the iPod? like make it as if it was new, no apps or anything, this is what you do:

If you want to erase absolutely everything(music,settings,photos,movies, etc.)
(In the iPod you:)
1.Go to "Settings"
2.Go to "General Settings"
3.Scroll down to "Reset"
4.Click "Erase All Content and Settings"
