Pioneer DEH-600BT Car Stereo + Bluetooth Audio + iOS4 = Recipe for disaster

I had my iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 streaming bluetooth audio just fine to my Pioneer-600BT car stereo. When iOS 4 came out, updated my 3GS and streaming stopped working. Purchased the iPhone 4, waited for iOS 4.1 which claimed to "fix" bluetooth problems and it still doesn't work. My iPhone 4 can connect to my car stereo just fine if I want to use it as a hands free, but bluetooth audio streaming doesn't work.

I contacted Apple, they said I need to update the software on my car stereo. I contacted Pioneer and they said they're stereos use standard bluetooth profiles which were created by the people who invented bluetooth themselves. Why are Apple using different bluetooth profiles to the standard ones? Why can't apple incorporate both sets of profiles for backwards compatibility?

Pioneer said loads of people have been having this problem with the iOS4 software update, so seeing as there is no immediate fix, I want to see how many people are having this problem so we can cause a fuss and get Apple to sort this out in the next update. Unless anybody knows of a reason why Apple can't or won't do this?

Having the same problem here also in combination with iPhone 3GS an Pioneer600-BT. With OS 3.2.1 everything worked just perfectly. After updating to IOS 4 the bluetooth audio streaming didn't work anymore. I hoped that the update IOS 4.1 should fix the problem, but sadly it didn't.

Just 2 mound before the update IOS 4 i bought this car audio special for the combination of hands free and the Bluetooth audio streaming compatible for iPhone. Couldn't enjoy it for a very long time : (

So i hope apple will do everything possible to fix the bluetooth audio problems. On internet you can find lots of people having the same problems also with other car audio models and brands. So apple do you job, fix the problem and make you customers happy again.

I have similar problem here whit my DEH-600BT and iPhone 3G iOS 4. With iOS 3 all worked fine. After upgraded to iOS 4.0.1 hands free profile still work, also the auto connect function. The A2DP profile doesn't work properly: the auto connect function doesn't work and the only think i can do to connect the iphone to the car stereo is to set car stereo to new connection "ready" mode and try to connect from iphone (settings -> general -> bluetooth -> tap on device). After this manual connection all works fine until next connection.
the upgrade to iOS 4.1 doesn't fix the problem!!!

I have exactly the same problem of Rupert78.
I can't understand why Apple doesn't fix this serious problem that affects many users.

I'm an Apple user since 1998 and, right now, i have an iMac, a MacBook Pro, an iPhone 3G and an iPhone 4, an iPad.

I am very disappointed by Apple and i will not buy any Apple product from now on.

I have the pioneer 800BT stereo and experienced the same problem after switching to IOS4, I just loaded 4.1 and it didn't fix the auto connect A2DP mode issue. Telephone connects fine and if I follow the steps above (connection menu, BT stereo, push wheel and get the "ready" then press the device on my iphone BT menu) it works. I did notice that I can now control the iphone via bluetooth though.

THey just need to fix the autoconnect BT stereo piece, it worked great in iOS 3.x

Same issue here. iPhone4 running OS4.2.1 cannot use A2DP with Subaru Outback. Works without issue as handsfree, yet A2DP just will not work. Other devices can stream to the car audio system - just not the iPhone. My 'smart' phone just doesn't seem as smart as some others...

Apple, how hard is it to conform to a standard that everyone else seems to get right? Your products have the potential to be 'MAGICAL', if only you wouldn't cripple them with restrictions.
