Running On AC Only

I use my MacBook Pro as part of my recording setup. It almost never leaves the desk anymore. My question is:

I want to leave it plugged in all the time, but I know that Is not good for the battery so could I take the battery out and then run it only on the AC plug?

If you remove the battery then the CPU will run at reduced speed ...

The best solution is to unplug the power supply for an hour or so very couple of days ("to keep the electrons flowing" is Apple's way of putting it) and then every two months or so re-calibrate the Battery
