iOS 4.1 Screenshot not working

Since I updated to 4.1 I can no longer take screen shots & when I try to save images from MMS or websites they do not save to my photo album. Any ideas?

yes i have this issue as well. phone will not take screen shots and will not save pictures from mms messages to the camera roll as it normally once did. i stayed on the phone with apple rep last night for over an hour and informed her that i had already restored the phone twice, once and backup and once as a new phone. She said she had never heard of this before and wanted me to restore from a different user id.

Only problem there is that i am currently staying in a hotel for my job and the so called "high speed internet" was gonna take 6 HOURS!!! to download the ios 4.1 again before doing a restore. So she told me to just keep my appointment with genius bar today and have them try to restore it from a differnet computer and if that doesn't work I may have to settle for a new phone.

The only problem with that is my phone has been PROBLEM FREE since day one, NO ISSUES, until the update with 4.1. Now I may have to risk a good phone for some random phone that may be refurbished garbage when i would simply prefer to revert back to ios 4.0.2. Either way I plan on purchasing the applecare extended warranty because I really do like this phone.

Well I had the same problem and have found multiple solutions. 1) reboot/hard reset the phone by holding down the power and home buttons. Worked for me. Put the phone in dfu (device firmware upgrade(google how to...)). A restore in iTunes actually does not totally wipe the phone. Most people are surprised when they hear this but when you click upgrade or restore it does not wipe the phone. It replaces system files. By placing the phone in dfu mode, it will be wiped. You can then restore from a back up or set it up as a new phone. This wipes the cache(s) in the phone which is, I believe, the problem. Another method is to jailbreak, ssh into it and delete the cache but that's more work and that won't make apple happy so I will discourage that option on this board. Just look up how to put iPhone into dfu mode. Be exact with your timing. It may take many tries; be patient! Good luck. Always try a reboot/hard reset first though. Worked for me.

I was able to get my screenshots working again, but I had to delete the DCIM folder to do it which I know isn't a supported option here since you have to jailbreak to do that. The option that I would suggest is to sync your pictures up with iTunes and save the pictures you want to keep. Then you can delete every picture from your phone and take a backup AFTER. Restore in DFU and try again, otherwise you can restore in DFU and start a new phone and put your pictures back on the device as needed.

The error is due to a failure in the DCIM folder to properly render your pictures. This can be due to a misconfigured database file (I believe it's a SQLite database) and the iPhone cannot render "old" info properly due to this misconfiguration. Not sure why this is related to new screenshots outside of them not being placed in the same location as a Camera image is.

Let me know if this helps, like I said I had to delete my DCIM folder for things to be corrected.
