Anyone have any info on when the new Apple TV will ship? My order just says "ships: September."

If you have a ship date sometime in October, I'd recommend checking your local Apple Store. Seems a lot of stores got some units yesterday. Apparently the retail stores get daily "blind" shipments: they do not know what will be on the truck.

You'll have ask about the ATV2 because they might not have it on display yet.

Sure we can - TNT Express:

Datum Uhrzeit Ort Status
30 Sep 2010 09:00:35 Hong Kong Sendung Wurde Weitergeleitet
30 Sep 2010 08:23:38 Hong Kong Sendung Wurde Weitergeleitet
30 Sep 2010 00:15:57 Hong Kong Sendung Wurde Weitergeleitet
29 Sep 2010 04:25:25 Hong Kong Sendung In Der Umschlagbasis Eingetroffen

48 hours and still in Hong Kong. TNT Express - how to waste money for the slowest express service on earth!

Ordered mine the day it was announced, Sept. 1st. Got the shipment notification on the 27th projecting an Oct 1st delivery, and FedEx has been holding it at the local sort facility since the 30th? I guess the boys at FedEx decided to crack mine open and pass the time since they're not out delivering the goods? Expected delivery date is now the 5th...

FedEx International Economy Distribution appears suspect...

Hey guys, if you get to catch Iron Man 2 before you head out, could you get the box to me before it expires? I missed that one in theaters and can't wait to see it. Thanks!

It appears that Apple retail stores got a few units on September 30; most were gone by the end of the day. Checked all the stores in the Boston-metro area today, Tuesday, October 5; none of them have received a shipment of Apple TVs since the one on September 30. Seems like a huge strategic blunder on Apple's part, with Google TV on the near horizon. With the iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple was first out the gate, and by many months, before the copy-cat products began arriving. This allowed Apple to capture a huge market-share, making them the leader in that product field, which spurred further sales, etc. Movies, music, video, etc. streamed to TV from the Internet, instead of from cable/satellite, is the future of media distribution. I can't believe Apple is letting this one get away from them, both by continuing to refer to Apple TV as a hobby and by not having the product available in any significant quantities by the promised date. Products in the hands of early adopters creates buzz, spreads the word, and fuels future sales. Hard for me to believe that Apple is apparently either going to ignore this market or be a follower rather than a leader.

I received my ATV2 today and I'm impressed. I also have an ATV1 so this really isn't new to me.

It was supposed to arrive on Oct 1st but then delivery was changed to Oct 5th. By tracking the package I saw that it was going to arrive on Oct 4th. I printed the pre-sign form and taped it to my door. All day at work I was tracking the package and it was on schedule for that day. Then I checked again and FedEx reported that they did not leave the package because I was not home at the time of delivery. When I got home I discovered that my pre-sign had blown off the door during a rain storm. Argh!

I was expecting some problems with my new ATV2 but so far so good.

All TV show and Movies stream well from iTunes including my own recorded video.
NetFlix streams flawlessly.
The ATV2 does not forget my network password after sleeping.

I still love my original ATV and will continue to use it.
