I was just wondering how to add products to my Express Lane list of Apple hardware. I tried adding my iPhone 4, which I bought myself on launch day, and use my only Apple ID with, and it tells me it's registered to someone else. Any thoughts?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I don't have an answer, but I received the same message when I tried registering my iPhone 4. I'm also unable to update my Apple ID profile because of this given reason: "We're sorry, you are signed in with an Apple employee or contractor account that cannot be edited with My Support Profile." I'm not an employee or a contractor. Weird.

As far as I know Express Lane is a feature for the iPhone, so you might want to post your question in the iPhone Forum. There is also an Apple Support page:

    not only for the iPhone:

In an attempt to put more troubleshooting know-how in the hands of its customers, Apple has created Express Lane, a simple to use resource for locating issues and solutions to common problems with *all of Apple's products*.

Had no idea - I stand corrected!

Also, this topic contains useful information which, whether or not it ends up being deleted, should be brought to Apple's attention, even through this side-channel. IMO, it's okay to have posted it here.

Ditto here on the "Apple employee" message.

In addition, it only lists 3 of my many Apple products: my iPhone 3GS registered last year, my iPad registered in April, and my AirPort Extreme Base Station registered years ago! None of my iMacs, my PowerBook, my 2 original iPhones, my Newton MP 2100 (registered 2 years ago), or my iPods are listed.

Ditto, plus I discovered I have two Apple IDs, which can't be edited, or consolidated.
Called AppleCare vis-a-vis this issue, and had the first rude, unsatisfactory experience in my 22 years as an Apple/Mac customer.
BTW, does anyone know if a call to Apple on the iPhone is billed as anytime minutes?

I just noticed that my recently stolen PowerBook G4 is listed twice.

The first thing that crossed my mind is if the ultimate recipient of my beloved pB logged into Apple?

The also stolen MacBook and G5 are only listed once however.

Aha! That is why some of my products were missing. They were registered using my iTunes Apple ID before I decided to use it JUST for iTunes and use a different one for here and my other Apple products.

However, NEITHER of them have my Newton MP2100 which was registered only 2 years ago. Nor do they have my AirPort Express, which was registered after my AirPort Extreme Base Station, which IS listed.

I discovered that all of my products were listed in the Express Lane database except for the ones currently covered under Applecare (Paranoid that I am, I checked Applecare status on them and confirmed this). That makes sense to me.

Are you saying that the Express Lane is only for products that are not currently covered under AppleCare?

I've noticed that on one Express Lane page it shows seven of my products, but on another Express Lane page it shows eight, with the mystery item being my iPad 64GB Wifi + 3G. Why would it only show up on some of the pages?

I noticed that some people were reporting missing products. I had the same issue and relayed my experience. I am satisfied with the logic of it; others may feel differently and it may not be the way things are "supposed" to be.

Certainly, I would not contact Express Lane if I had an Applecare issue but maybe they would refer me there. I suppose time will tell.

My iPhone 3GS and iPad are both still under AppleCare and both are listed.

I called AppleCare and they confirmed that they were all registered in my name and email address, but that they didn't know if it was possible to tie it to an Apple ID. That's the whole point of Express Lane, to have all your products in a single page tied to a single account.

It's missing my MacBook, iPhone 4, and iPad (all purchased new). It technically has my original iPad, but I had it swapped out at the Genius Bar and cannot add the new one manually because "it is registered under another Apple ID." Which Apple ID could that be?
