Q: Production scan and duplicate productions

Does anyone know how FCSvr is determining whether to create a new production during a production scan? If I create a new production and then create a filesystem folder with exactly the same title (I'm using regular expressions to pull the title, client, id), it creates a new production instead of adding to the existing one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is what production scan is for - to scan for new folders and create new productions in Final Cut Server. A production itself is a mere data entry in Final Cut Server, and creating one manually doesn't trigger any changes in the filesystem.

If you want to add files to an existing production, just add new assets directly, such as by uploading via the FCSvr interface or by copying them to the corresponding directory in the filesystem that has the scan on it.
