In logic under core audio there is the output device - built in output
and input device- built in output /alternative internal mic.

It sais enabled but dousnt come up with an perticulat interface for the behringer XENYX. I was wrong, i do have the behringer UCA200 , so its unnecisary, fair enough.
But do i need to regester the mixer with logic or have i simply connected it incorrectly into the mac. Theres no explanation in my manual and i cant seem to find anything on the net for it, most likely im being stupid, but could you or someone please explain how to connect the mixer to the mac, im using a two way (red and white) cable into a oneway audio cable into the back, excuse me if this is silly language but i hope you get what i mean

You connect the UCA200 to the Mac via USB, then you connect the Main Outputs from your mixer to the inputs of the UCA200. And Logic is not supposed to see that mixer, it only sees Audio Interfaces - not what is connected to this Audio Interface. But connecting the mixer outs to the built in audio in will sound better. You have three options in ascending order of sound quality now:
1. Use your UCA200 as an Audio Interface
2. Use your Macs Built In input
3. Buy a different $100 Audio Interface with +24 bits capability,+ like ESI, EMU, Line 6, Tascam, Edirol etc.

I do use the Behringer Ultracurve for equalizing my monitors. It's the only piece of Behringer equipment that I can really recommend though. When I started with music I had a Behringer EuroMix, and when I set the faders in a certain position I could receive FM radio. I then quickly got a Mackie Mixer and was nearly blown away by the much better sound quality. That was nearly 20 years ago however, so it might be that Behringer got better these days.

Cheers,

Jazz
