SMB 10.4 to Windows Server 2008 R2

We implemented windows server 2008 R2 on our file servers and a handful of older 10.4 Macs can't connect. They just say username or password is wrong. 10.5 and 10.6 Mac's have no issues. I'm assuming this is some sort of security or encryption level that by default wndows server 2008 R2 implements that 10.4 can;t support, but I can[t find documentation on it....anyone know?
