iMovie export to MPEG2

Simple question.

How do I export iMovie project to MPEG2?

Thats all I want to know.

Mac OS X (10.5.6)

iMovie will not export to MPEG2. I would suggest that you render in h.264 for best results, although you could also choose Apple Intermediate Codec or DV.

Use iDVD to encode the h.264 file as MPEG2.

So there is no direct export to MPEG-2? 😟 That is not good I guess.

I heard of this go-around between iMovie and iDVD. I will try it.

btw.
Is there possibility to buy an MPEG-2 encoder plugin for QuickTime or iMovie so I eventually could export files directly from iMovie in MPEG-2?

No.
mpeg2 as an export-option was never supported by Apple apps, due to no need for that (=mp2 is usually inside a .ts structure on videoDVD => authoring apps) ..

Compressor, part of the $$$$ FC/pro suite allows conversion to .mp2

what for you need a 'naked' mp2?
