Cant get new upload window options, sometimes

I'm trying to import a bunch of clips that I've moved to the edit-in-place device. I don't want to use a scan b/c I'd have to wait and also because I want to enter specific data for bunches of clips. However, when using either drag-and-drop OR the client "upload file" function, I can't get the multiple upload options. Also, when I try to use a local client to upload the files on the EIP device, that doesn't work either. When I try to upload multiple files from drives on another machine, i DO get the multiple uploads options.

Again, I'd rather not use scans.

Any thoughts?
