Unable to connect iphone to itunes

I just purchased a brand new iphone 4g and it will not connect to itunes. My ipod touch connects to itunes but my iphone 4g won't. What gives? I tried restarting my pc, using different usb cables, usb ports and re-installing the driver.

I should have probably checked apple.com before googling the problem. I just had to update to iTunes 10. Thanks Allan.

I have also got a new phone tried USB's etc then deleted all old itunes and reinstalled itunes 10 and restarting- still nothing says it cannot find install the device
My old ipods work but ipod touch also freezes up itunes and wont connect - any ideas
