Hide gray background, Preview

In OS X's Preview, it always presents a gray space to delineate where the page borders are. However, that takes up a lot of space and I would much prefer not seeing this gray space. How do I hide it?

MacBook Air 1.6 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2Gb RAM, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Conal,

If that is a PDF you are previewing than you can select Preview > View > PDF display > Single Page continuous. That will remove the large borders around the page.

Hi

is Preview-Preferences-PDF-Initial Document Scale : size to fit
checked On ? - or do you wish to hide the space between subsequent pages? in which case I don't know of a way to.

This would actually be the gray space there is on the left and right side of the PDF page, not the gray space between the pages.

I have already set to Zoom to fit and also make PDF pages run continuously. None of this works. I think one reason could be because the first page of my particular PDF document is bigger than the other pages.

Yep, that would do it. Delete the first page in preview....
