How do you "marquee drag" to select markers in viewer?
I would not ask this if I hadn't exhausted my options with no success. This seems elementary but I cannot find the technique in the Tom Wolsky book or anywhere by searching these forums. I am from a graphic arts background where, like in photoshop, you can marquee select by 'option-dragging' the cursor. Nothing I do in FCE does anything to create a marquee but only starts dragging the timeline marker in the viewer.
What is the exact technique to creating a marquee selection of markers in the viewer timeline? Please give exact keys and method used please.
I see also that the book says 'from list view' and as I right-click (option-click on the Mac) on the current time indicator at the upper right hand of the viewer window that a pop-down list of markers appears but these are not selectable as a group, either by trying to marquee-select or to try shift-selecting. This list is merely a list that is only selectable individually or not at all.
There must be another 'list view' that I am missing?
Hi -
I'm sorry, but it is not clear what you are asking - or at least I don't understand what you want to do.
It sounds like you want to select a bunch of marker points at one time?
Is this correct?
For what purpose?
If you have placed markers on a source clip, you will see all those marker in the list view in browser.
If you look in the browser in the list view, if you have applied markers to any of the source clips, you will see a little triangle to the left of the clip name. Click on the triangle and it will reveal the list of markers.

To select them as a group, just click down and drag across the markers.
In the Tom Wolsky book on page 82 it asks to place the markers on a clip, then, as the last point of the exercise it says to Marquee-drag to select the markers from the clip in list view and press command U to create subclips.
It also goes on to explain extended markers but I'm stuck at just selecting the markers first.
Now I will look at your post as it looks like you have the solution.
Ooo... Meg The Dog you do have the solution. List view in the BROWSER and your posted images help perfectly. Now I see that Tom Wolsky has this explanation on page 80 of his book but it was disconnected in my reading on to the next page. Boy this is hard to sort out, but having these forums is absolutely the key to getting it done.
