images not loading in mail

hi, I have missing images on apple mail and web pages, this problem started after the 10.6.4 update. I disabled some java settings in the web browsers and in the applications folder I reverted java to default, I don't know if thats messed my settings up completely. Could you give some advice please, hope you can help, thx, ann
