Oct 20, 2010 2:24 PM in response to txfeinbergsby txfeinbergs,Well, it was worth a shot, but that did not work. As soon as I hit "Done" after enabling Home Sharing, the Home Sharing ICON goes away on the left. Seems to be a SW bug. -
Oct 20, 2010 7:42 PM in response to NJN1by 123walter,I have something similar. Router with wind 7 connected..I can see this one on atv. Two laptops.....one with xp one is OSX. These laps are using dif iTunes I'd, but I can share the desktop on both laptops. In other words...iTunes on laptops has no sharing problem. Even tho they are using dif account from desktop. I have both accounts on ATV. It only shRew with the ether netted win7 unit. Nothing I do can make ATV share with the laptops. I don't get it. I have deauthorized, rebooted, spit in the wind,. Everybody is using same router and same workgroup. Everybody is using 10.1. I also have iPad and iPhone. Are they capable of sharing? Never saw anything in the settings Bout this. -
Oct 21, 2010 8:00 AM in response to txfeinbergsby sjn456,I own a Mac and PC with two login profiles for my wife and myself, and deauthorized both users under iTunes 10 and reauthorized them by logging into each profile on the Mac and PC and I still can't transfer files. From the Mac I can see the PC's library under Shared but when I click on I just see a message, "Loadng Library"... and nothing ever happens. -
Oct 23, 2010 8:29 AM in response to ediblecrayonby bono83,I can't get mine to home share either. Before upgrading to iTunes 10, everything shared fine. Tried disabling the firewalls, un-sharing then re-sharing, opening the specific ports, and nothing. The computers network through windows with no problem. Just can't get iTunes to share anymore. -
Oct 23, 2010 3:43 PM in response to ediblecrayonby stacy1345,My home sharing has stopped working out of the blue. My daughter can view my library but I cannot view hers. None of the settings were changed. Tried stopping and restarting the home sharing nothing works. Help :-[ -
Oct 24, 2010 11:26 AM in response to ediblecrayonby sydneygerb,I figured out what to do! Turning home share on and off didn't work, and de-authorizing and authorizing the computers didn't work, but apparently the computers were running on different internet networks. All I had to do was switch them onto the same internet connections, and home share worked! Let me know if this helps! -
Oct 24, 2010 11:56 AM in response to sydneygerbby txfeinbergs,Can you elaborate on exactly what you did to get the computers on the same network? The more details the better. Thanks. -
Oct 24, 2010 6:18 PM in response to ediblecrayonby BRYEJAMES,The only way I could get it to work is Create Network under the Wifi bars in top right corner. Make your own network "Your Name's" iMac and be on this network. Then go on this network from your other Mac. The computer that you wish to download music TO needs to also be plugged in with Ethernet connection, the download FROM can be over wifi. I plugged Ethernet into both Mac's and connected to my own network, and could copy to both computers.
This does not work completely over Wifi unfortunately. -
Nov 12, 2010 10:11 PM in response to sydneygerbby 59er9er,This was what happened on two of the machines in my home. My wife's Macbook was logged in to our guest network while my macbook pro and mac mini were on our main network. Thanks! -
Nov 14, 2010 11:06 AM in response to ediblecrayonby swiegel,Even after the iTunes 10.1 update I had the same problem but realized it was ONLY my wireless itunes/apple TV devices that couldn't perform home sharing/streaming. Turns out it's my router (Cisco/Linksys WRT610N); after rebooting it everything worked for maybe 15 minutes. Found others on Cisco's discussion boards with the same problem after upgrading to the newest firmware (http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT610N-1-00-03-B15-firmware- SPI-Firewall-blocks-Bonjour-Apple/m-p/274553/highlight/true#M143606)
So, it may actually be some routers that aren't interacting correctly with perhaps a slightly altered implementation of bonjour (used for sharing/streaming). -
Nov 14, 2010 11:21 AM in response to swiegelby swiegel, enabling "multicast filtering" on my router fixed the problem! Multicast is needed for bonjour to function between wired and wireless devices. -
Nov 17, 2010 5:39 PM in response to ediblecrayonby Aaron Geis1,My father had this same issue (Windows Vista / iTunes 10 / Netgear Router), but he is only using Home Sharing for Apple TV. This was the solution we came to (based off of a previous post in a related topic):
"On the Windows PC, click Control Panel, Network and Internet, then select Firewall Settings. Under "Allow a program through Windows Firewall", make sure the box for iTunes is checked."
ADDITIONALLY, make sure "Routing and remote access" is enabled.
After 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Apple, this was the only solution we could come to (and it was just us fussing around, no help on Apple's behalf). -
Nov 18, 2010 3:11 PM in response to txfeinbergsby Noodle scooz,This is what is happening to my computer and my daughters. We were just trying to send a song from my comp to hers, and the icon keeps vanishing. -
Nov 22, 2010 5:39 AM in response to ediblecrayonby RickyRoma100,Was hoping iTunes 10.1 would fix this, but Home Sharing still disapears after enabling it.
I suggest people use Zumocast, its FAR superior than Remote. -
Nov 22, 2010 2:20 PM in response to ediblecrayonby Merhej,Emm everyone try going to preferences then sharing and fix it from there.
