Hi, just bought the new iPod nano and the oddest thing has happened, the sleep/wake button is, well, stuck. If I push it I don't get a tactile response and my iPod won't wake up (worst part). Going to the genius bar on the 24th Sep to get it checked out. So if anyone experiences this issue, tell me.
MacBook (Late 2009),
Mac OS X (10.6.4),
iPod nano 6th generation 16Gb (PRODUCT) RED
The same thing has just happened to my iPod, I m going to call apple about it tomorrow, unfortunately the nearest apple store to me is 5 hours away. Can you do a swap without being in a store?
The same thing happened to me. It was working fine until, all of a sudden, the button became lodged inside and wouldn't turn on the display. I took it to the Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo, and they replaced it immediately. But the fellow at the store said this was the first time he'd heard of the problem.
I haven't had this problem, but given the location of the earphone connector, it's natural to place a finger (and pressure) on the sleep/wake button when inserting the jack. This seems like a less than optimal design.
Apple may have a fatal defect on their shiny new device, an achilles heel if you like, just bring it in to the Apple Store and they will replace it, since this is a new problem it is common for the geniuses to have never seen this problem.
It does seem like a possible design/manufacturing problem. Today my sleep/wakem button just got stuck - unable to turn on the iPod Nano 6th. One minute it was OK, turned on the Nano Ok, then next time I tried the button it felt as if it was stuck in the down position.
Its lasted less than a month of careful use, mainly as a wristwatch.
Just got my rebuilt Nano back from Apple. Afraid to use it though. Sleep/wake button failed within a month, and I am VERY careful with my iPods. Apple makes you sign for delivery and the express delivery they use only drops off in the morning. Sorry, I can't take a day off to accept a package. Plus, they won't even let you hold the package at Fed Ex. I had to call the local warehouse and beg to let me pick it up. Ridiculous.
I received my replacement Nano 6 this morning, along with a box + a pre-paid envelope to return my previous Nano 6 with the stuck sleep/wake button.
Apple UK simply sent the new Nano only - I keep the original plastic box and all the leads from my first one. And they take a credit card number in case I don't return the faulty one.
****Hey,**** _***The exact same situation happened to me earlier only it was both of my volume buttons. They were pressed down and would not give that "CLICK" noise to let you know that you'v pressed the button. If this happens to anyone else I cleaned around the buttons and then used a pair of tweezers to bring the buttons back up....They now work just like new. I hope I saved any of you a trip to the Apple store
_ _THANKS XD
