Q: Stuck sleep/wake button?

Hi, just bought the new iPod nano and the oddest thing has happened, the sleep/wake button is, well, stuck. If I push it I don't get a tactile response and my iPod won't wake up (worst part). Going to the genius bar on the 24th Sep to get it checked out. So if anyone experiences this issue, tell me.

MacBook (Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.4), iPod nano 6th generation 16Gb (PRODUCT) RED

My + button is stuck too! What a coincidence. I've been in distress these past couple of weeks. I managed to press the - button so many times the sound is now really quiet. It's driving me crazy!! Exactly how well do iPod volume control headphones work? I need my music loud ^__^

I recently got my Nano geplaced for exactly the same problem. No with my new Nano I don't want to get the same problem again an bought some iPhone Headphones. They work perfect, you can even go to next song and paus play etc.

Same thing here: sleep/wake button is stuck and my warranty just expired. That's just great!

For that price I thought I purchased a premium product but I didn't get one. From what I read on the internet the construction seems to be pretty improvised. As this problem seems to be affecting a large number of customers I demand a refund! Maybe someone from Apple could say something about this!?

My sleep/wake button malfunctioned this past Friday eve on my Ipod Touch 4th Gen. It is protected by an Otterbox casing always. I took in to an Apple store today & after waiting 30 minutes to consult w/ a "genius"...was told out of warranty & $100 to fix. I told the guy Apple could $#^(^*&^%&%*%^()! 4 months past warranty expiration. It's a bummer

Does the headphones make your nano wake up even without pressing any buttons?

This is completley ridiculous. Apple should return those faulty nanos.

At least they must release a new firmware which would let the users use volume up and down buttons for the purpose of sleep/ wake. (pressing both buttons should sleep/awake)

Although they know about the problem, the Apple policy in this case is clear, you have to pay more than $100 to get another unit, even with the warranty, any small scratch on your unit and they say "physical damage" to make you pay.... absolutely ridiculous

I hope somebody from apple could read this. Oh please, just have a firmware so that I could still use my nano.

I am sure some people from Apple is reading these forums.

It is just their will if they make up their mind to solve this issue.

They can not just ignore customers who are completely right !!

This is actually the 1st Apple product that I have.. and I'm not very pleased.... (Maybe I was expecting too much about the quality of their products considering that they are selling at a really high price)

My button just got stuck, but my ipod is over a year old. Is there any chance that they would still replace it?

I've had the same problem - with two of the 6th gen nanos. On the first, the button failed a month after purchase. They replaced it (at the Ginza Apple Store in Tokyo.) On the second, it failed 5 months after the warranty expired. They said it would cost around $80 to fix.

All other iPods i've owned - older nanos, Classics, Shuffles - have lasted years with no button issues. The 6th gen nano is obviously poorly designed. They should recall it.
